Preparing Another Shipment For Russia

Some of the Lazu team undertook a road trip from Paraparaumu to Nelson to perform some rework. It was decided to go down on a motorbike, bound to be good weather. Unfortunately this was not the case.

Fully loaded bike

We set off in the early morning for the ferry from Wellington, 2 up with a fully loaded bike. (Honda CBR600).

Arrived at ferry, weather not too bad. Not raining. Boarded the ferry ok, even had some breakfast. the crossing was perfect, incredible calm. Very noice.

On the ferry passing through the sounds.

Got off the ferry, the rain started, very heavy. Lucky we put our waterproofs on before we set off. The rain didn’t let up until we got about 30 minutes from Nelson, by this time we were a bit “damp”.

We arrived at the factory and reworked one pallet then decided it was time to give up for the day. Next morning, you guessed it – Torrential rain. Back to the factory completed the re-work then waterproofs on again, this time torrential rain all the way to Picton, 2 hour ride.

Loaded onto the ferry after an hour delay (sat in the rain) and all was well in the Sounds. Not so good once into the open water.

Rain and high swell

The swell was up and we made the bad decision to sit at the front. Within 30 minutes J0-anne was very sick, this lasted for at least 2 hours. All my fault of course 🙂 . She wasn’t too keen to get back on the bike, neither was I. High winds and torrential rain at nearly midnight. True dedication to Lazu 🙂

Great adventure but not sure Jo-anne will be going on the ferry in the near future.
